Marin Transportation
 

Marine transportation is one of the oldest modes of transportation. Sea transport has been the largest carrier of freight throughout recorded history and can be over any distance by boat, ship, sailboat or barge, over oceans and lakes, through canals or along rivers.

Approximately 90% of international trades are done through Marine Transportation which includes 6 Billion Tons of different kind of goods from which 1/3 is Oil products, 1/3 is bulk and dry cargos and the rest is non bulk cargos.

Advantages of Ship Transportation:

- This mode of transportation is cheaper than aviation and land transportation.

- The other advantage is the fixed price for sea freight rate which is determined by large companies and all other companies must obey them except some ships which the owner negotiate the price for sea freight with the owner of the shipment.

- The quantity of the cargo that is transported by ship is pretty much as heavy shipment can easily be transported and delivered from one port to another.

- The other advantage is related to the safety and reliability of this mode of transportation because if the buyer and the seller both observe the standards related to marine transportation and Incoterms rules for the  packing, delivery and insurance of the goods the transportation will be safe and with the least damages and hazards.
